Solar Gardens succulent bowl

Today I went to a place called Solar Gardens with my sister and a group of her friends. It is a business set up on an acreage near Pike Lake. They specialize in succulents and have two large green houses where you can go to buy plants and make your own pots or you can buy premade pots. They also have an option where you can go there for a class where Roger (one of the owners) shows you how to make a beautiful bowl of succulents and instructs you how to take care of it so it will last for years to come. That is what we did. It was a private class so it was just the eight of us. There is also an option to have lunch out there because they have a fire heated oven and outdoor kitchen where they make home made pizzas. We had pizza and it was very tasty! Their place out there is just beautiful and as soon as I saw it I thought my mother-in-law would just love it :)

Here are some pictures of the bowl I made. These plants are native to the desert so they don't need to be watered much (about once/week) and in winter you bring them inside and only water them about once/month and they become dormant and you can start watering them again in April and put them outside once it is warm enough. They don't grow very quickly but they do grow a bit and may need to be re-potted next year.
