Changes on the Horizon

The reason things have been so quiet here is because I have had a lot on my mind.  You might think that is a good reason to blog, but they are the types of things that I haven't wanted to advertise to the world (or the 5 people who actually read this blog, haha) just yet.

I have been thinking for a few months about moving my massage practice home.  After a lot of careful consideration and conversations with trusted friends and family I have decided that is what I would like to do.  I am really excited about this opportunity.  I think it will allow me a lot more flexibility with my schedule and how I run my business will be entirely up to me.  Not that I don't like the way things are run where I am now, I just am excited about being able to entirely call the shots by working at home and not have to pay for rent and parking.  My plan is to work at my current place until February 29th, 2012 then open my home office sometime in March.

I had a really rough, stressed out week of my own making.  I was quite concerned about telling Mieka, who owns the clinic that I work at, that I would like to leave.  She is off on maternity leave PLUS the other girl who works here just found out that her husband had been hired for a job out of the city, so they will be moving in the new year.  I didn't know what to expect (crazy how many ridiculous scenarios your mind can come up with when left to stew about something, ugh) but I am thankful that Mieka was very calm and understanding when I called her today.  I realize that this is putting her into a potentially stressful position, however, she was quite appreciative of the four months notice that I gave.

I had promised myself that I am not allowed to start preparing my new treatment room at home until I told Mieka my plans.  Even though about a week ago I took a knife to the carpet in the room to see how easily it would pull up (not bad considering it is berber carpet glued directly to concrete).  Once I did that I knew that there was no turning back.  I am planning to paint the room and put in cork flooring.  I hope to make a nice relaxing sanctuary for my clients.

Good for you Angie ! If it feels good do it and God will take care of all the details. Only fear can keep us immobile and hold us back in life to the point that when one gets older their life is nothing but ' what if's '. How sad is that. I admire people that not only live their faith but trust in it completely too. You will be fine and are only responsible for you ; well maybe Jason a little too. lol Looking forward to hearing awesome news of your happenings in the New Year ! You go girl !! xoxo Janet Fowlie

can't wait to come to the new place! I have to say the new location/parking/possible flexibility in hours will make it much easier for me to come see you, so expect to see me more often!

I am so very proud of you and the decision you came to! I know how hard it can be to try an keep stuff like that to yourself and not tell everyone! I full plan on making appointments to come see you...even though I have to drive for 2 hours to do it :D

And Lyn, I was hoping that people might appreciate not having to come downtown and pay for parking...so I look forward to seeing you at my home office. :)
