Update from Calgary

Mom and dad are finally home. They left Calgary yesterday morning to begin the 7 hour journey home. Mom said that it is the hardest thing she has ever had to do, leave her grieving father in that great big house by himself. I can only imagine. It was very hard for me when we left and that was a week and a half ago already. It sounds like grandpa is set up quite well though. I fear him with his poor balance being in that house, with those narrow slippery stairs into the basement. But I am sure he will be okay. He hasn't taken a fall in all the years that they have lived there (well not that I am aware of anyway), and I am sure he won't in the future. Mom and dad set him up with a microwave and borrowed a Hamilton Beach grill for him to try out. They are talking about getting him set up with a company in Calgary called Life Line. Grandpa would wear a wristband or a necklace with a button on it, and he would have to press the button when he gets up in the morning and before he goes to bed at night. If he doesn't press it, they would call, and if there was no answer they would send an ambulance I think. I think that it would be a good thing for him, cause he is 87 and all. Mom did say that he has mentioned (which is good for him) something about moving into an assisted living condo maybe in the spring. I am glad to hear that he is doing alright, but mom said that he is unbelievably exhausted. I hope that he can get some much needed rest over the next few weeks before the Internment (gramma was cremated, and is being buried on Nov 10). So that's the update on my family. Thank you for all your well wishes and condolences over the last few weeks. I have really felt God's peace through this.
