Ramblings

I have always known that there are different views expressed by nonChristians, than Christians on the topic of marriage. Why wouldn't there be? I realize that some nonChristians do save sex for marriage, and some even want to get married in a church with a religious ceremony even though they do not practice Christianity on a day to day basis. But why do people feel the need to ask both Jay and myself if we are 'sure we want to go thru with it?' or 'do you have cold feet?' or 'are you scared??'. I realize that marriage is a HUGE lifetime commitment, but coming from people who are already married, it makes me wonder what their marriages are like!? And what about the guy at our little party that Jay's condo people put on for us who offered me his condolences?? I realize he was just joking, but is it supposed to be funny? I dunno....seems too serious to joke around about. Then there are the people who wonder if Jay and I will be going to the party at mom and dad's after the wedding. It will be a smokey boozey party. Now even if it wasn't my wedding night, I don't think I would have any desire to go to that party :P The world seems to look at marriage as a life sentence in some sort of prison. Like you are signing away your rights as a human being, to have a ball and chain locked to your ankle for the rest of your life. I was at Michael's a few times during our wedding planning to pick up some things, and I was looking at some cake toppers they had, and one was of a bride holding onto the neck of the grooms shirt as he tried to run away. Now is this supposed to be funny? I am so incredibly happy and full of optimism about my future with Jason. Marriage is a blessing, and something I look forward to tremendously! Just some ramblings....
