I have been feeling like I have been in a rut lately. Just feeling rather blah. I have considered trying to get involved with something, maybe take some lessons of some sort, or join a gym or SOMETHING to get me out of the house that I would find enjoyable. I usually talk myself out of trying new things though. Too expensive, too potentially embarrassing (though I did go to a few of the belly dancing lessons I signed up for last fall!), time of day conflicts, etc.
My sister invited me to join a book club that her and her friends are starting up. Not totally sure if I will do it, but at least it is something fairly safe. I enjoy reading, I know my sister and some of her friends, and it doesn't cost much (I guess depending on what books they choose to read). I am pretty shy and often find excuses not to participate in things because I don't know anyone who will be there. I have a hard time meeting new people. I get into a crowd of people and sort of clam up.
In my boredom I have started playing The Sims 2 again. What a silly game. In the few hours I played yesterday, I managed to potty train my toddler, teach him to talk and walk. Then he grew up into a little boy and before bed last night he grew into a teenager. Now his parents are retired senior citizens. Life is sort of boring as a Sim when you don't have to go to work. I was commenting to Jason that I had forgotten that people can go to the mall in this game. I said maybe I will have to send my senior citizens to Market Mall so they can go sit on the bench and watch all the young folks wander around. Or maybe I could convince them to have public 'woohoo'. Silly game!

Cranberry Flats

Jay and I decided that we couldn't just stay home today, quite possibly being the last +30C day of the year. We decided to go check out Cranberry Flats. Neither of us had ever been there before and we actually looked it up online on the Meewasin website to figure out where to go. According to the website there are 'wheelchair accessible trails'. We packed up the dog and headed out. When we got there (after missing one turn and nearly missing another because of poor signage), I was immediately concerned about their idea of 'accessible'. The path was gravel, which if it's packed hard enough can be navigated with a wheelchair. This wasn't too bad, but within a few feet of the parking lot there was a rather large pot hole, across most of the path. Jay managed to sort of go around it and we carried on until we came to a hill that just looked too rough and too steep for Jay to feel comfortable navigating. He decided to head back but told me to go on (if I wanted to) to at least see more than the bald prairie. I did go on a little further and came to a boardwalk and thought, hey this wouldn't be too bad for Jay, but then there was another steep portion that he wouldn't have been able to maneuver himself. Then came the stairs. I stopped and took this picture of Kiwi at the lookout point that would have been as far as Jay could have gone because of the stairs. It definitely wasn't worth the time, but I guess now we know that Cranberry Flats is not a place for Jay and I to go. I think Kiwi might enjoy walking there on a cooler day. As you can see her tongue was hanging out pretty far by the time we walked a the little ways we did.

The Saga Continues
I was in to see my doctor again today to adjust my thyroid medication. It seems that the medication is still suppressing the thyroid too much so she lowered the dosage by a third. Here's hoping in six weeks that I will be getting back to normal. I definitely have less hypothyroid symptoms than I did six weeks ago, however apparently my numbers are still high. I found out today that normal TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) level is around 5. Six weeks ago my TSH was at 75 and when I went for blood work earlier this week my TSH was at 35. Still too high :P I hope that we are able to get things figured out soon. Not that I expected this to be a breeze, but when I was diagnosed with Graves disease in May I thought that it would be a couple of years of medication and it would be taken care of. I would say I have gone to the doctor more in the last four months than I have in years. I usually go once a year for my checkup and possibly another time if I am really sick. They actually remember me by name when I go in there now. It is a small office (my doc works by herself, with one office assistant), but still. They didn't used to know me when I only went in once or twice a year. I guess this is the way it goes as you get older?!

I got my hair done today. I haven't had it cut or coloured since the end of May and it was needing some attention. I have started to grow my hair out a bit so I am able to go longer between haircuts, which is nice. When I go to the hairdresser for a colour I usually have plenty of opportunity to catch up on celebrity gossip. They have all the best magazines at the salon. I believe that Star and People magazine make up at least half if not more of their magazine collection. Those are the ones that my hairdresser usually gets for me when I am waiting for my hair to colour. I don't think I found out too much new today. Mostly that I am out of touch with the new young celebrity crowd. I didn't recognize a lot of names or faces. I guess that's what happens when you refuse to read or watch the Twilight series, ha!
There was one article in one of the magazines about stars who had 'beat cellulite'. There were pictures side by side supposedly of the same celebrity who on one side their fat butts were bubbling out of their bikini bottoms, the other side, their skin was tight and smooth and perfect. You can't tell me that there was no photoshopping done to those 'after' pictures. I know that probably 90% or more of magazine photos are touched up to get rid of wrinkles, pimples, rolls, soften skin, etc. It got me thinking. I know someone who has photoshop on his computer. I wonder if I should get Jay to take a bikini picture of me and make me look all hot and magazine worthy. Haha. I asked him if he could paint me a six pack. I think he has more important things to do with his time, but maybe someday, if we are bored we'll give it a try.

Getting Online
Over the last few months we have been working on getting a website up and running for the office where I work. We are hoping that it will be a good resource for our clients as well as be a welcoming space for people looking to find more information about Pacific Avenue Massage Therapy. Jay and I got it ready this weekend to a point that we were ready to publish it. I am happy with the way it looks! Thanks Jay for all your hard work and frustrating times spent trying to get the theme to work. We sure appreciate it!

The fruits of my labour
I never thought I would end up with such a nice crop of tomatoes this year. When I planted the tiny plants around the May long weekend we got some frost and I covered them, but they looked a little ill for a while after that. Then we finally got some rain, and some heat and the plants took off! I would estimate that between the three plants I have around 25 tomatoes. I have been glad to see some of them are ripening on the vine, as I know how long they can take to ripen off the vine. I ate the first tomato yesterday and it was delicious, even though it was even still a tiny bit green! Yum!
