Awwww

The dog breeder that we will be getting our puppy from in a little over a year just had 2 litters of puppies. Each litter was 6 puppies! That's 12 puppies, plus the previous litter that is now about 7 weeks old that will be sent off to their new owners soon. That litter had 3 puppies. So this family that raises the pups has 8 adult dogs involved in making puppies, and 15 puppies in their house right now! That is 23 dogs! I can't imagine living there :P One or two dogs is enough for me!

Sold

Earlier this week a condo in our building went up for sale. It is about 400 square feet bigger than ours. It was listed at $219,900. Today I noticed on my way to work that there is a sold sighn. We don't know how much they sold it for, but I am guessing that since it sold so quickly that it wasn't for too much less than the asking price. Unless the sellers were willing to negotiate a lot....Yikes! Wonder what we will get for ours in a year! Unbelievable.

If you were given a loose diamond what would you do with it?

My grandma willed each of the granddaughters a diamond from her anniversary ring. I just got my diamond earlier this week. I have thought about what I could do with it since I found out that I would be getting it. Doesn't make sense to make a ring out of it for a couple of reasons...it would likely look like an engagement ring which I already have, and I barely get a chance to wear my wedding rings from day to day because of my line of work. I thought about having a pendant made out of it, but I'm still not totally sure about that. Other than that....I could make a diamond stud earring, but then I would look silly with one diamond in one ear. I suggested to my sister a while back that we could make a pair of earrings out of our diamonds and alternate using them each month or so, she didn't like that idea too much. I know that there is no rush to do anything with it, maybe I will just hang onto it for years until I think of something fun to do with it. Maybe I could make a diamond studded collar for our puppy....or not...haha.

Mmmmmmmm

Can I brag about my husband for a minute here!? He made the most awesome shish kabob for supper last night. It was soooo flavorful with marinated beef and peppers, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms. I honestly think it was the best meal I have ever eaten. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.... mmmmm shish kabob.

Our Chinese food turned out beautifully. I wanted to share this recipe with you. It is quite good and has some fairly common ingredients.

Suey Choy with Honey (Chinese Cabbage)
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tsp cornstarch
1 tbs liquid honey
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
1 tbs cooking oil
1/2 cup sliced celery
1/4 cup sliced carrots (thin)
1 tsp grated peeled gingerroot
22 suey choy leaves (or bok choy)
2 green onions, sliced

Stir orange juice INTO corn starch in a bowl. Add next 5 ingredients, stir and set aside. Heat wok or large frying pan until very hot. Add oil, celery, carrot and ginger and stir fry for 30 seconds. Add suey choy and green onion and stir fry for 1 minute. Stir in cornstarch mixture. Stir to mix and cook for 1 minute or until boiling and thickened.

We found this to be a very tasty recipe, but it felt like it was lacking in salt so you may want to add some salt or soy sauce.

Aura

I have heard a lot lately about Aura jeans by Wrangler. I have never had too much trouble finding jeans that fit me, but I have heard they are amazing for those who have a hard time finding jeans that fit. I think that I might go check them out. I realize that they are kind of pricey (ranging from $46.99-$65) from what I have heard, but I think if they are a good quality pair of jeans that fit well that it could be worth it. Anyone out there own a pair or know more about them?

On my dad's side of the family when my aunts laugh they have a tendency to snort. I don't very often snort when I laugh, but this morning was an exception. I woke up at 7am when Jason got up to use the bathroom, but then went back to sleep for an hour until just before our alarm went off at 8am. In that time I fell back asleep and started dreaming about an episode of Family Guy. In my dream this was the funniest show I had ever seen. I was laughing and laughing and laughing until I started snorting. Then I woke myself up because I actually snorted, then the alarm went off. But I asked Jason if I had snorted in my sleep, and he said that I was laughing and then I snorted. But he thought I was laughing because he had dreamed that he was playing with his old dog and was barking at her. He thought that he had barked out loud and I was laughing at him. Hahaha...silly us.

Mmmm food!

We have tried a few times in the last number of months to make our own home made chinese food. It is never quite as good as the restaurant can make, but we are going to give it another go on Saturday. We are going to try to make ginger chicken, suey choy with honey and brown rice. The suey choy recipe came to me from an old classmate of mine for one of my wedding showers and we haven't tried it out yet. This morning we went grocery shopping and picked up some necessary ingredients like suey choy and sesame oil. I love the flavor of ginger. We have experimented with putting it in lots of things lately. On Saturday we put some in our stir fried veggies for our fajitas. Mmmm so tasty! Last time we were at Costco they were sampling a salad dressing called Wasabi and Ginger. Oh was it good! I think next time we go to Costco we will pick some up. We've thought about calling our puppy Ginger...but we think we have come up with something EVEN better! Okay I guess I've rambled on enough for now.

It's official. Jason and I will be adopting a baby next fall (2007). Our application was approved earlier this week. Check them out at this website Wild Wood Acres . I know it's still over a year away but we are both pretty excited! Starting to think about names already :)

A question for you...

If you had an appointment for a massage and you were 10 minutes late would you expect the therapist to give you your full scheduled time?

Just having one of those nostalgic moments....

I am sitting her listening to The Gambler by Kenny Rogers. Takes me back to when I was a kid and my sister and I used to listen to dad's Kenny Rogers record on the old Fisher Price record player. I sure enjoyed him, maybe not as much as my sister did (she went with dad to the Kenny Rogers concert a few years back when we bought dad a ticket for his birthday). Just brings a smile to my face.
