The wedding yesterday was just lovely :) I like weddings. I think it is neat to experience them now that I have experienced my very own wedding. It definitely gives you a different perspective when you have been on the other side of the camera. You understand that potential stresses, sleep deprivation, and all the other things that go along with the special day. It was good to catch up with some old friends, and just seeing some of the people I used to go to church with that I haven't seen in a few years. It was a good time!
When we got home last night mom and dad's number was on our phone. I just got a feeling that it wasn't a good thing because usually at 9:30pm on Saturday they are playing cards with my aunts and uncles. I called back and mom informed me that they had just gotten home from the hospital. Apparently she passed out in the car in the parking lot at Poverino's (they were on their way for supper with my aunt and uncle) due to insulin shock. My mom is a diabetic and when you get too much insulin in your system and not enough sugar your body goes into shock and you can pass out. So dad called 911 and she was taken to the hospital and they gave her sugar and monitored her for a couple of hours and sent her home. She said it was a pretty good wake up call for her because she doesn't monitor her sugar levels enough with her glucometer. I am glad she is okay!

I think it would be super cool to go for a hot air balloon ride. Does anyone else think that this would be neat? Nice quiet flight over the city/country side on a warm summer evening. I have always thought this would be neat, but didn't even have the first clue who to contact in regards to booking a flight. I found a website online called Sundance Balloons that offers hot air balloon rides in Saskatoon. The prices are quite steep, but I think before I die that this is something I would like to do. Anyone want to join me?

What I learned from watching The Simpsons...
Today at work, when I was finishing up with a client and asking him if he would like to rebook, he told me that he was going out of town for work, but would call me in a fortnight. I thought about it and realized that without the Simpsons I would not know what 'fortnight' meant. It is not a completely useless show....it also helped me answer a trivia question from our page-a-day trivia calendar. It was something like "In the movie Ben-Hur, who gave Ben-Hur a drink of water when he passed out in the dessert?" I knew the answer...not because I have ever seen the movie Ben-Hur, but because I recalled Mr. Burns' contribution to the Springfield Film festival. I love that show!

Income Tax
Jay and I did our income tax tonight. It is the first time that I have done my taxes as a self employed person. It was a little more complex, but we bought the Quicktax program from Costco last night and that made it quite simple. I am glad to say that I don't owe any income tax, however I do owe some CPP. I thought that contributing to CPP was optional. I figure if I save that money and put it away for my retirement, why bother paying into CPP which may not even be there by the time I am 65. But apparently you HAVE to pay it.... *sigh* It's not going to break the bank, but it is kind of annoying.

food
I can't imagine having to plan and cook supper meals 7 days a week. Because of Jason's personal routines and my work schedule we only plan and cook 3 suppers a week. Well usually Jason does most of that cooking unless I am not at work. On the other 4 nights...well let's see....Sundays we usually have a big lunch and don't have much supper, then on the other three nights it's usually just kind of a fend for yourself thing. Sometimes we eat easy to cook things like chicken strips or just make sandwiches and others I pick up a sub or something on the way home from work. We usually plan our 3 together meals a few days in advance and I love those days. Not only do I appreciate coming home to a cooked meal on the table, I enjoy that conversation and watching Jeopardy. I think if we had to really plan and cook 7 suppers a week that there would be a lot of 'easy' foods like kraft dinner or lipton sidekicks. Tomorrow night we are cooking Japanese chicken drumsticks (it's supposed to be chicken wings, but drumsticks were cheaper), brown rice and having a salad. And Monday night we have already talked about doing souvlaki, but the rest of the meal is undecided. I got a nice recipe at work for a crockpot lasagne that we have talked about trying soon...mmm lasagne. I love food!

Ba Ba Ba BAAAAA!
Last night Jason and I went out on a date. It's been a while since we did go out in the evening for more than just a supper out. Last night we stayed in for supper (I made a very tasty homemade pizza...mmm) then we went to the symphony. I had bought us tickets as an anniversary gift to Jason back in January. Once we manoevered the snow covered sidewalks and made it to our seats we really enjoyed ourselves. They played 2 Mozart pieces and the piece they played in the middle was some Canadian composer, and I really didn't care for that piece. It was a symphony for the trumpet, and to me trumpet really doesn't go nicely with the beautiful violins, violas, cellos, basses and other instruments. But the Mozart was superb! As I watched the conductor I really wished that I understood his conducting. It really kind of fascinates me to watch him boogy-ing up there. For a while I thought that he was just up there as an excuse to dance to the cool music :) He's a neat fellow! After the symphony, Jason and I went out for dessert to Montana's and mmm was that tasty! A great evening all around!!!

My coworker is leaving next Tuesday to go to Hawaii for two weeks. I wish I could go to Hawaii, but I would rather save that money to buy a house. Jay and I had a meeting with a real estate agent yesterday just to ask him some questions about buying houses and building houses and stuff. We got some pleasant news that our condo is worth probably $20,000 more than what we estimated, so that is good news! It was encouraging all around and we are perhaps looking at getting more serious about looking into things by early next year. How exciting!!

Starting Over

I got a call last week from Midtown Stylists that my hairdresser had left. I have not been overly loyal to one hairdresser in my life ever. I have always been open to trying someone new, however I felt that I really clicked with my hairdresser. She was friendly, and after seeing her 4 or so times per year for the last 2 years, I felt a connection. I could go there and she would suggest things that she thought would look good, as well as being excited about my input. I trusted her a lot when it came to my hair, and now she is gone. They had rebooked me with another girl for my appointment yesterday (which I had made about a month ago), so I decided to keep it. My hair turned out alright, I like the highlights that she gave me, but she wasn't nearly as friendly as the other girl. Also, I didn't know what to tell her to do with my hair, and she didn't seem to have any suggestions so I just got about half an inch trimmed off all around and thought maybe next time I would do some more looking at pictures of haircuts before I go in. I am not sure if I will keep going back to her, but I probably will at least once more because she gave me a coupon for $10 off my next haircut.

Odd
In Kyle Saskatchewan there is a restaurant along the highway called Heidi's Burger Chinese Food. Not sure if that seems odd to anyone else, but it sure seemed strange to me.
