God is good.

Yesterday I felt incredibly discouraged about my job. It has been pretty slow at work this month (the slowest month I have had since I started there). Last night we had our small group Bible study and as usual at the end of the evening we brought forward prayer requests and ended our evening in prayers for eachother. I asked that someone would pray about my job that I would feel better about it and get more clients. Not that today was incredibly busy, but I decided to go in early this morning even though my only appointment was booked at 5pm. Sure enough about 20 minutes after I got there, a man walked in and asked if we had any appointments available right away, and of course I did. So I ended up with 2 clients today. And I have also been having some problems relating and feeling comfortable with my co-worker Jan. Today we had some good conversation and I just all around feel better.

As I walked down the hallway on the way home I smelled pizza....now I want pizza.....mmmm pizza....

I just got back from coffee out with Karen and Arleen. I miss hanging out with those girls more, but I guess that's kind of how life goes as you get older and busier with life. I have to admit that I am missing Jay and it was awfully lonely sleeping by myself last night, but I am not as bored as I thought I might be. Tomorrow I plan to go meet mom, dad, Robin, James, Aunt Margaret and Uncle Hans for coffee (it has been my parents tradition for YEARS) at the mall and maybe have lunch. Then I was thinking that maybe I would go scope out Old Navy and Michaels and see about using the gift certificates that I got for Christmas. I suppose that is all. I don't have any plans for any big suppers by myself tomorrow, but I guess we'll see how motivated I am. A sandwich might work just fine. Then Sunday is church, and Jay should be home early to mid afternoon for a haircut :) Some of the people I have talked to about Jay being gone have been like, "woohoo, you get to have the house to yourself...I love when my husband goes away for a few days." I am totally not in that mind set. Maybe it'll come with time?? But I guess we are still newly weds and I would rather him be here with me. Even when I have left him at home when I have gone and done very fun things, I still miss him like crazy.

What is new in my life....

My husband is leaving me. Not permanently, but he is leaving Thursday afternoon to go ice fishing and returning Sunday afternoon. This will be the first time that he has left me at home by myself. I have done it to him a few times already and I think it'll be awfully quiet around here without him. Anyone wanna do something this weekend??

It has been a little slow at work this month. Last week wasn't too bad, however I am on call today and if nothing comes up before that I am only going to go in for 3:30 pm and I have one appointment booked at 5:15pm. I hope things start picking up, and that my regulars who were going to wait until the new year to book have not forgotten about me.

I bought myself a new pillow yesterday. After waking up a few times in the last few months with a kinked up back/neck I bought myself a memory foam, contoured pillow. It is definitely different than what I am used to, but I think it will help. I will give it a week or so to see if it will make much of a difference, hopefully it will not be a bad thing.

On February 12th, 2006 I am taking my very first continuing education (CE) course in massage therapy. Being registered we have a certain requirement to meet in CE credits every few years so I figured why not get started on it. I am still within the grace period allowed by the association (two years after graduating), but it sounded like an interesting course. It is a one day seminar on some new techniques and assements for treating shoulder pain. I have quite a few clients who have shoulder pain and I think that this could be beneficial. I hope so as these courses are not cheap. I found out yesterday that one of my former classmates from massage school is going to Maui to take a CE course! That would be nice....mmm Maui. Oh well, I'll have to settle for the Sheraton Cavalier in Saskatoon ;)

Amazing Book!

I just finished reading one of the best books I think I have ever read. It is called Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. Arleen recommended it to me a while back and it was finally at the church library so I picked it up last Sunday and finished it Friday evening. It is a retelling of the book of Hosea set in 1850s California during the gold rush. I am seriously contemplating buying this book because I think it is one that I could read over and over again.

mmm food

We went to the 2nd Ave Grill for supper last night and it was super good. We did not cheap out on anthing. I had ribs, Jay had lobster. We each had an alcoholic beverage, and we shared cheesecake to end the meal. It was super good and I think I would go back again. The reason we chose to go there is because I got a $50 gift certificate from 2 of my clients at work as a Christmas gift. So after all of that our bill came to $80 including tip. So really $30 for an awesome meal like that isn't so bad. One thing Jay commented to me and I totally agree, is how in the world anyone can afford to drink publicly. It doesn't cost so much if you buy the booze and drink it at home, but at $5.50 per drink last night, I don't know how anyone can afford it. One thing that I did really like about their menu is that there are a lot of good looking selections that are between $8-15 if you wanted to go out and eat something less expensive. And if you ever want to try martini's, they have 3 pages of different ones in menu!

Can you believe it's been a year already?!?!

I have found lately that I wake up in the morning feeling tired. Usually once I am up and about I am okay. But the act of dragging my butt out of bed is pretty difficult. I am thinking that taking a multivitamin might help with my lack of energy (or maybe it's the low iron plaguing me again...). I do have a doctor's appointment to go for a checkup in about 3 weeks so I will definitely ask the doctor about that when I go.

Guess what Sunday is?? The date is January 22nd, 2006...one year since Jay and I got married! Wow what a quick year it has been! I was saying to Jay just the other day that it feels like we have been married forever, but yet at the same time I am still amazed when I stop to think about the fact that I am married. We decided that we are going to celebrate on Saturday. So far my plans include going for a pedicure on Saturday (Jay gave me a gift certificate for Christmas) and we are going to the Second Ave Grill for supper (a married couple that I see at work gave us a $50 gift certificate for that restaurant as a Christmas gift!). So it shouldn't cost us too much to celebrate this first anniversary of ours, but it should be fun! We were also remembering that we stuck 2 of our wedding cupcakes in the freezer after our wedding and we will have to dig those out :) Mmmm those cupcakes were SO good!

Some people say that the first year of marriage is the hardest. I think that if this last year was the hardest that Jay and I have some VERY good years to come. We have definitely had some adjustments to make but we are doing so well. Yay for us! hehe

So it turns out the reason I was in so much pain last Thursday was that I had a rib that was somewhat dislocated. It makes sense with the location of that pain that I was feeling, however who knew that a dislocated rib could be so painful. I would say that I am about 90% better, however still have some residual stiffness left.

I don't know about you but I am getting awfully sick of this election campaign. I wonder if it would not be more effective for the candidates to focus on their own platforms rather than only demeaning the others. I have seen a lot of things on the news about the election and have picked out bits and pieces of the platforms here and there, however whenever I turn on the tv all I tend to see is mud slinging. I believe it was the last, or maybe the one before that, election when I made an educated decision not to vote because I was so disgusted with all the garbage that went in during the campaign. I do plan to vote next Monday, but I will be SO thankful when all this garbage is over!

Woke up this morning with some of the worst pain in my back that I have ever experienced. I don't know what the cause is, or why it hurts so bad, but it is starting to ease as the day goes on. I think I am also getting used to it. I went for a massage this morning and I think it helped a little, but it may just be one of those things that needs some time to heal. It seems that every couple of weeks for the last couple of months that I seem to get a kinked up neck/back and I am getting kind of sick of it. I don't know if it's my pillow, or the bed itself, or my sleeping position....*sigh* Maybe I will go and relax some more. I had to cancel my appointments today because I am in no shape to massage people....well my co-worker was going to call and cancel my appointments and she was having a hard time getting ahold of those people....hopefully she is able to do that!! Hope tomorrow finds me better.......

Happy Birthday to me

Yesterday was my 25th birthday. Man do I ever feel old...haha, well not really, but I have days where I do. Yesterday was a good day. I got up in the morning and opened a gift that my inlaws sent back with us at Christmas time. I got another Old Navy gift card (yay!) and a magic scarf (the one in the picture)....not sure if you know what it is....it's a scarf, that's also a tube that you can pull over your head. I will probably just use it as a regular scarf. Then I went to work and it was fairly slow so I got to come home by 3:30pm and when I got home there were flowers waiting for me here and Backgammon. Then we went for supper to the Saskatoon Inn and I had my very expensive free entree. I had the special which was two 4 oz sirloin steaks with portabello mushrooms and an intriguing sauce, stuffed potato, grilled tomatoes and soup to start. It was a good meal, however I definitely would not have paid $25 for it! Then we went over to mom and dad's for cake last night and mom made a spice cake (complete with cream cheese icing and 25 candles!). All in all a pretty good day :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

It's been a while since I wrote. Haven't had too much to say. Christmas was good. It was nice to get out of town for a few days but it was also nice to come home and have a couple of days off work before having to go back. I worked two very busy days last Thursday and Friday and so far this week is looking much slower, which is okay because I would rather work back into it gradually after having so much time off.

We spent New Year's Eve over at Anthony and Lynette's place. It was a fun evening of playing games as well as eating lots and lots of food. We taught 3 people how to play Carcassonne, and I think they liked it (tho I kicked butt! hehe), it's such a fun game! Candace made this wonderful baked tortilla chip dip, and I totally need to get that recipe from her!

I can't believe that it is already January 2nd, 2006! My birthday is in two days, our first anniversary is in 20 days and that should be the end of our excitment for a while. Well I guess Valentine's day comes pretty quick after that too. Lots of reasons to celebrate being in love (and getting presents...woohoo! hehe).
