Some pictures to sum up my weekend in Swift Current:

We had a fire last night out in Jason's parents backyard. It was enjoyable, the fire is so mesmerizing.

We went out to Uncle Harvey's buffalo pasture to go shoot some gophers and a coffee can. Once we were done shooting we headed over to the other pasture where the buffalo actually were. They are pretty majestic creatures. Well except for the booger licking...hehe.

Yesterday the very first buffalo calf of the season was born (there are 49 more on the way!), and we were lucky enough to get a look at it. Pretty cute!

I shot a gun yesterday for the first time in my life. I started with Jason's gun that has open sights on it, and managed to hit the coffee can on my 2nd try. Then I tried Dale's gun that has a scope on it, and hit the can many more times as well as one unlucky gopher :) It was a nice weekend!

Jason and I are heading to Swift Current this weekend. Planning to go shootin'. I've never shot a gun before. Should be interesting.

Prison Break a la Angie and Jason

This morning when we woke up we started writing some plots for the show Prison Break. I told Jason that even though it is a very good show, I hope that they don't drag it out for like 5 more seasons. I figure that Michael only has so much tatooed on him and after a while his 'contingency plans' will start to get really cheesey. I figured that his final plan could be a tiny little tattoo on his butt, that says 'run like the wind'. Okay, it seemed much funnier when we were still half asleep this morning.

Goodbye Winston

Got a call a little while ago from my sister. I guess mom and dad took Winston to the pound today. He had been destroying things in their house (carpet, a couch, a shirt) and they decided that he just wasn't the right dog for them. It is sad because I am quite certain that unless someone looking for a farm dog comes to pick him up he will likely be put down. I always kind of thought that mom and dad were not a 'big dog' kind of family, but he is who they chose that day at the SPCA. I never got that attatched to him, but it was fun to take him out for runs and he just loved swimming.

TV

Man, I am so hooked on the show Prison Break. I didn't start watching until a couple of weeks ago. Jason had found a copy of the first season, so I ripped through that and last night I watched the season finale as well as this season's first episode. It is such a frustrating yet exciting show. I hope that the good guys get a break one of these times because they sure need it. I am curious to see where the show will go now, and how it will end. I think it would have made a good plot for a movie. Of course they couldn't have nearly as much detail then, but it would be nice to see it all wrapped up nicely in a couple of hours.

I also watched Survivor last night. They had to take Bruce away to the hospital because he was in so much pain because he hadn't pooed since they got to the island. That's like 3 1/2 weeks! I can't imagine the pain that guy was in. But they said he had a completely blocked colon and bladder! Yikes!

So that's my update on my TV watching. I have gotten into watching way too much tv this season. I have kind of been following the amazing race here and there. I enjoy watching that, but I always pick a team to root for and they get eliminated. I like the old guys and the hippies this season. Oh yeah, and 24 has been kind of disappointing this season. The only good thing is that the weiner president will likely be gone after this season because he's the bad guy and Jack always gets the bad guy. Prison Break is definitely my new favorite!

You've probably heard on the news about the evacuation of the Red Earth First Nation due to flooding from the Carrot River. Not that the flooding is funny, but it kind of makes me laugh to think of the Carrot River. My dad is from the town of Carrot River and any time I have seen that "river" I don't even know if I would classify it as a stream, more like a creek or a trickle... I particularily remember when I was about 10 years old and we went exploring at the shale wall next to the Carrot River where they had found a prehistoric alligator skeleton. It was neat to see the shale wall, but we went wading through the Carrot River which was no wider than our kitchen table and no deeper than about calf deep. Amazing how much that can change. One thing I particularily remember about that day was mom getting a leech on her foot and doing a little dance until it fell off, hehe. Luckily it hadn't latched on too well yet.

Poor Man's Weath

Today at church we sang the song "Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble?". That song TOTALLY reminds me of the old city wide praise and worship concerts. When I got home I dug out their CD and put it on and jammed to Poor Man's Wealth as I painted my toenails. What great times we had at those concerts. At first when we started going to them in grade nine I didn't really care for them because I didn't know many of the songs, and because it just wasn't fun like most of the other youth group activities. But as the years progressed and I learned the songs and my relationship with Jesus deepened, I really came to enjoy those times. I could totally go for one of those concerts.

Once you learn, you never forget...

I did something today that I definitely haven't done for the last 5-8 years. I went for a bike ride! I decided it was much too nice out to just sit inside. So I went downstairs and pumped up my tires (they were totally flat) and went for a ride. Man is that ever hard on the bum. I need one of those old bike seats like my parents bikes have. They are as wide as most people's bums so that they don't bruise your bum bones. I did buy a gel seat cover last year and I think that did help. It sure felt weird getting on that thing after so long of not riding it, but as the old cliche goes, you never forget to ride once you learn.

PS - I bought the jean jacket and I like it!!

I have been keeping fairly busy at work. Last week I had 13 clients and this week I have 11 and it's only a 4 day week! Haven't had a lot new to say. Last night we had mom and dad over for supper. We tried out a new recipe. I got it from a lady at work. It was crockpot lasagne. It was so good that I honestly don't think that I will ever make lasagne the other way again. Unless of course I need to feed more people. Because a 3 quart pot of the stuff fed four of us. And we all have fairly healthy appetites, but if you wanted to feed more you would probably need more lasagne. It tasted just like regular lasagne except for no layers. I think the only thing I missed about traditional lasagne was the layer of cheese on top. But this had cheese melted right into it, so it tasted cheesy all the way through. mmmm it sure was good!!

This Saturday our Bible study group is taking part in a service project for our 40 days of community campaigne. We decided to go hang out with the seniors at a special care home. I think it will be interesting because in my experience, seniors always have such interesting stories to tell. Though we heard that a lot of the people that we will be visiting have dementia, I am sure it will be a blessing to go and visit and bring cookies to these people.

Yesterday I had a break at work so I decided to go out and do a little shopping. Since I need to make some cookies, and our hand mixer broke down on us when I was doing Christmas baking, I bought us a new hand mixer and some cooling racks. Then I headed over to check out Old Navy because I still have some gift certificate left from my birthday and Christmas. I would like some nice casual khaki capri pants, but they just didn't have any I liked at Old Navy. I will keep looking. Then I decided to head over to Mark's Work Wearhouse to have a peek at their clothes. I have always kind of wanted a jean jacket, and it has been time to retire my fleece jacket for a couple of years already. I tried one on at Old Navy and it just didn't fit properly, but there was one at Marks that I liked. Now I try not to be an impulsive buyer, especially since I am married and Jason and I share our finances. So I left without the jacket...and I told Jason about it and he told me I should have bought it. Maybe I will go back and buy it today. I have always wanted one, and now that they are kind of in style again I think I'll go get it. I think it would get put to good use.

Ha!

You know when you are driving down the freeway doing the speed limit, or maybe just slightly over the speed limit and some yahoo comes flying past you in the left lane going probably 20-30km over the speed limit and you think to yourself "where are the police?!" Well yesterday, the police were just behind me when this guy went flying by, and obviously he didn't realize that that was a police car behind me. So on come the lights and the police car pulled around me and pulled this guy over! I yelled "woohoo!" and was glad to see it. But watching in the rear view mirror as I drove by, the police only gave him a warning :P Not quite sure how he wiggled out of that one, but I am sure it probably scared him enough to drive slower for a while anyway!

Happy Birthday James

The other day I heard about a family on the news. They live somewhere in the states, and they have a little daughter and just gave birth to quintuplets! That is 6 kids in one family! Yikes! I was at James' 2nd birthday party today. There was about 7 children there ranging in age from about 5 years old to 5 months old, but the majority were around 2 years old. I definitely do not feel ready to be a parent. Hehe, I came home and thought to myself, "wow is it ever quiet in here...mmm quiet". Here are a couple of pictures of James. The first is his newborn picture that was taken at the hospital, the 2nd is of James today at the party. I also found out today that my new little nephew will be named William Michael. James and William. Jim and Bill. haha, I wouldn't let my sister hear me say that, but I can't imagine calling James, Jim.

To throw out, or not to throw out....

Last night I was sorting through some old pictures. I have about a 10 inch pile of old pictures that either not photo album worthy, or are doubles of pictures that I already have in albums. I know that this 10 inch pile is not taking up much space, but I have thought about getting rid of them before. I feel bad for throwing out pictures. I haven't actually done it yet, but I would like to. Is that terrible of me? Maybe if I was a scrapbooker I would find uses for some of the old ones, little background things like the sky or people's heads n stuff. But alas I am not a scrapbooker so I am left with a big pile of pictures that I am not really that interested in owning anymore. Any suggestions or should they just hit the garbage heap?
