Silk

So I finally found a brand of soy milk that doesn't taste like garbage. I have tried a lot of things in the last couple of years since I developed an intolerance to lactose. I tried goat's milk which actually did kinda smell like garbage (maybe cause goats eat garbage??), lactose free milk, SoGood brand soy milk, and finally by the recommendation of one of my clients at work, I tried Silk. I have only used it in cereal thus far and really, I can't believe it's not milk. Haha, now there would be a good name for it....do they still sell that "I can't believe it's not butter"? Anyway....

I have had a pretty busy couple of weeks. Last Saturday I went to Wilkie for my friend Leah's wedding. It was nice, except the service was quite long, and there was a lot of sitting and standing involved, but I am happy for Leah and Mitch :) It was also good to see some of my old classmates that I have not seen for a while!

On Friday, mom, Robin, James and I are heading out to Calgary until Monday. Should be a nice weekend :) We are planning to go to the zoo, and I am hoping maybe to hit up the Chinook Centre. I have not seen my grandparents for almost 2 years, and being that they are getting up there in years (gramma's 82 and grampa's 87) I thought it was about time. I am looking forward to going, but this will be the most time that Jay and I have spent appart since we got married, so that may pose a challenge. I think I will manage to keep busy enough that I should be okay, but Jay is staying home to hook up our new computer (we went and picked it up last night!). Should be a good trip though!

I have been reminded twice already this week about the fragility of life. You never know when you might lose someone close to you, and it might happen before you even get a chance to say goodbye. I had a client on Monday who works with the father of Justin Sproat (the 17 year old boy who was murdered a week or so ago). Sounds like he was a pretty great kid, popular, athletic, had a great relationship with his parents. And now he is gone, without even getting to say goodbye to his family or friends. And now I just looked at http://lynettie.blogspot.com/ and found out that Dwayne Harms passed away this morning. He did get to say goodbye to his family, his wife, his children, but I am sure it doesn't make it any easier to lose a father or a husband. *sigh* Just realizing once again the importance of letting those you care about know that you love them.

What a bathroom!

In a few (hopefully) short years, Jay and I plan to build a house. We have been talking about it a bit lately, but we know it won't happen for a while yet. Well I was looking at some websites for contractors in Saskatoon last night and came across this picture. I figure this is the ensuite bathroom we will have in our master bedroom. Well not exactly, but I do like this layout, and that shower would so easily become a roll-in shower for Jay....and I would get my
GI-NORMOUS bathtub in the corner there. The only things I would add would be another sink and a linen closet, which may even be here, just not in this picture :)

why oh why?

I am sick! More sick in fact than I think I have been in some time. I have a viral throat infection, kinda like a cold, but rather than in my nose, it's in my throat. It's not phlegmy, which I am thankful for, but I have an unbelievably sore throat, an unbelievably irriating dry hacking cough and yesterday and today my voice has been squeeking like I am losing it. I think that the morning is the worst, this morning all I could do was whisper. But as the day progressed more and more came back and now I am almost back to normal except for a few squeeks here and there. Last night I was pretty frustrated with my coughing (couldn't go more than 2 minutes without a coughing fit), so I went to the pharmacy to get some cough syrup. I decided on Buckley's because it has been years since I had that, and I have been told by a lot of people that it's very effective. I tried it and it didn't do a darn thing. The box says that it has a money back guarantee, so maybe I'll take it back :P Also the last 2 nights I have slept in our guest bed so I wouldn't disturb Jason. I don't think either of us would sleep if we were in the same bed. I expected when this started on Saturday that by Tuesday that it would be winding down at least. But it still seems to be getting worse. The voice thing is better, but the coughing is still terrible as is the sore throat. I know some people who have had a similar virus in the last few months and it has lasted them quite a while. I hope that this one is done with soon.....I have already missed 2 days of work and I am quite certain that I won't be going in tomorrow unless it is just to call people and cancel their appointments. *sigh* I can't remember the last time I had this type of illness, for me it always affects my nose and sinuses, and at least with that there are pills that you can take that dry you out. But with this I am stuck.....oh well guess I am getting some good reading done!

1 year ago today...

Jay and I went to WalMart and bought a HUGE box of Freezies, and I would have to say that more than 3/4 of them are still in the freezer. Why do I remember that small detail from a year ago....well because also, a year ago after supper the man that I love proposed to me while sitting on the couch with me. He handed me his resume, figuring that I had never seen it before and that I might be interested in taking a look at it. So I opened it up to find a cover letter, with my name on it......yeah anyway, the rest as they say is history! We have now been married for 6.5 months. They have been good months! I was thinking about getting engaged while sitting in church this morning and a year ago the morning after I sat next to Jay and Robyn in church and she mocked me for staring at my ring for the whole time :)

Yesterday Jay and I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I never read the book in school, so other than what I saw on the previews I really had no idea what it was about. I really enjoyed it! Especially Johnny Depp....he is very good at playing eccentric characters (ie Edward Scissorhands, Ichabod Crane, Captain Jack Sparrow...just to name a few). I recommend it to anyone looking for a good clean movie to go see.
