Thanksgiving

A time to be thankful for our many blessings. What a great weekend I had! I am thankful for a great fiancee, who has a fairly normal family (what's normal anyway?! hehe), who I get along with and who showered me incredibly with MANY gifts this weekend. Jay's mom held a bridal shower for Jason and I this weekend. There were over 20 women there, so we were spoiled big time! We only got 2 duplicate gifts out of all of them, so it wasn't too bad :)

Also this weekend I got a chance to meet a LOT of Jason's relatives! Most of his aunts and a couple of uncles and both of his grandparents. His gramma is very cute! She is deaf as can be, and she came up to me and said it was nice to meet me, and how are you? I said I am good to which she replied 'well I am gramma' haha, not bad for a 91 year old woman! I think I finally have all his aunts and uncles sorted out, and who belongs to which side of the family, it was good to put faces to names!

Another sad bit of news that you've probably already heard about is the fact that Christopher Reeve passed away this weekend. I think it was great what he did for spinal cord research. It is a shame though that usually it takes a famous person to educate the public about specific disabilities or illnesses. Like I think of Michael J Fox who has Parkinson's disease. I am sure many people were less familiar with it until he was diagnosed. Or like spinal cord injury and Chris Reeve. When my dad told me that yesterday I was pretty surprised, but I could almost see a little fear in his eye. I think he still has some fear that Jason is going to die young. I think it's all about looking after yourself and Jay is right on top of that. Not that Chris Reeve wasn't, but I think maybe he pushed himself too hard physically.
